Plasma-Arc Welding
Gilwood’s recent investment in a second Orbital and Plasma-Arc Welding Unit has increased the fully-automated welding capacity within Gilwood.
This new equipment will improve both weld quality and work capacity, ensuring Gilwood continues to provide a cutting-edge, highly-competitive and effective manufacturing service.
Over the ten years that Gilwood has performed automated plasma and orbital welding we have proved that an automated weld is second to none in precision, consistency and repeatability.
The automated plasma system also produces faster throughput, enabling welds to be programmed to move efficiently and continuously. Using an automated plasma system creates a smaller heat affected zone and eliminates defects including porosity and cracking.
The excellent visual appearance and repeatability of automated plasma welds, compliments the reduction in the preparation times for assemblies by eliminating bevelling for thicknesses up to 8mm.
